Design process

Discover problems. Define them. Find solutions. Validate them. Build features. Measure them. repeat(∞)

Discover and define.

Empathy means understanding.

Getting to know people in their environment creates a unique opportunity to frame problems. By observing user behavior through user interviews, field research, and more, I create a distinct point of view on what problems should be solved. From there, I guide product, engineering and business partners through defining success for both users and the product team.

Solutions and validation.

Ideas tested again and again and again.

Once we’ve created a clear definition of problems, I establish conceptual solutions by guiding product, development and business teams through formal and informal design thinking activities. From there it’s all about users’ ability to make use of those solutions and seeing what sticks based on our defined success criteria.

Build and measure.

Turns out getting things right the first time is pretty rare.

Getting an MVP out the door requires collaboration and an understanding of everyone’s role. By playing to my team’s strengths and identifying their weaknesses, I build successful people and products I can count on.

Launch is just the beginning. By tracking how users navigate a product, continued refinement of experiences leads to even better results. I track and translate user behavior by never ceasing to question why.
